Recent Arrests in Parsippany: Police

The Parsippany Police Department reported the following arrests, including a DWI and shoplifting.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — The Parsippany Police Department reported the following arrests:

DWI

At 12:20 a.m. Oct. 4, a Parsippany Police officer saw a 2016 Lexus drive through traffic cones that were blocking the roadway on the Route 46 west and Bloomfield Ave. side of the intersection, police said. The vehicle then crashed into the posted road closed sign, which caused the officer to signal to the driver to stop. The driver, identified as Kevin Ellingham, 41, Parsippany, stopped briefly before he fled down Route 46 East, police said. Responding units later found Ellingham parked in the parking lot of 3379 Route 46 and conducted a brief investigation. Ellingham was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated and was brought to Parsippany Police Headquarters, police said. Ellingham was later charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Refusal to Take a Breath Test, Revocation for Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test, and Reckless Driving, police said. He was released on his own recognize and awaits a court date.

SHOPLIFTING

At 4:23 p.m. Oct. 6, Parsippany Police were called in regards to a shoplifter at the Shoprite at 808 Route 46. Officers spoke to Shoprite loss prevention personnel and the accused shoplifter, Amanda Morton, 29, from Montville. They determined Morton only paid for a few items in her possession, then put numerous pieces of merchandise in her bag and exited the store, police said. Morton was placed under arrest for shoplifting. She was released on her own recognize and has a pending court date, police said.
