Revolutionary War Site in Jeopardy Again; Federal Hill, Site of New Jersey Line Mutiny Executions.

This landscape belongs to us all; get involved write local officials in Bloomingdale, Riverdale and Pompton. Honor the Iron Core.

Iron Core of the Republic ; Federal Hill, Continental Army Site in Jeopardy Again from Senseless Development.
Shall we further erase a sacred landscape of "Our New Jersey" Shall history be erased for private economic interest; in the name of jobs or economy of short term goals. As the saying of the Barbecue, living room patriots goes; freedom isn't free, and thank a vet, these soldiers of the original American Army, the very "iron vote" of the republic not the militia that fought the British and never deserted the Army of General Washington's supreme command be simply down played or blinded by progress?
The story of the New Jersey Mutiny is a story worth knowing, telling and recognizing in its dynamic of the time. This can only be done in an honorable way by preserving the very landscapes its played out on. In fact this landscape, topography known as Federal Hill should of long been recognized as a National Historic Landscape/ landmark. Federal Hill is sacred in that it tells the story of true patriotisms and sacrifice, not mere flag waving. What the original Army or Iron core of the republic endured should be legion, but in an age of weakness and seeming corruption this may may be forever lost as the very landscape it played out on.
Known as the New Jersey Line or the Pompton Line Mutiny also called Federal Hill Mutiny under command of Colonel Isreal Shreve was put down by a direct order from General Washington whom ordered a sortie out of West Point to surprise the contingent and immediately suppress its leaders, three sergeants. After being surrounded on a cold January 20 morning 1781, two of the sergeants were summarily ordered executed by their own men, one sergeant's life spared after he begging mercy and announcing reform. Read the story for one self; today Riverdale, Bloomingdale and Pompton claimed or once claimed the site of the execution. Federal Hill was surely an Army post. When reading the story of the Continental Army one realizes the whole landscapes from West Point to Morris Town was a maze of old trails traveled by Indians and men of the Iron Core of the Republic; their story can only be honored by honoring the landscapes and our common history as a nation in its birth. Federal Hill should not fall to development any more than it has already. Honor the Dead, respect your Country, remember the iron core of the republic.

As the Iroquois chief Cornplanter once reminded us, we all liv on borrowed land, meaning the creation can only be shared or borrowed, although it was and still is true in the case of Federal Hill, this place belongs to all of us, not a developer for private economic interest. Honor the men of the Iron Core of the Republic, Federal Hill belongs to New Jersey and the Nation and should become a National Landmark or Park.

Email, phone or write the Bloomingdale Mayor and Council, No to the Quarry expansion and subsequent luxury housing proposal.
