Rockettes Meet With Aspiring Dancers In Parsippany

2 members of the famous dance company were happy to give back to their North Jersey fans Tuesday.

Alyssa Devore wants to be a Rockette and dance on stage at Radio City Music Hall.

Devore met two members of the world-famous dance company The Rockettes at the Parsippany Public Library Tuesday during a meet and greet.

Megan Levinson and Christine Sienicki, dressed in their Rockette costumes, met with young dancers, took pictures, and signed autographs.

“They’re very well trained,” Devore, 10, said of her idols. “I pretty much do every kind of dancing: jazz, hip-hop, ballet and they make it all look so easy.”

The Hadden family has a deep connection with the Rockettes and the “Radio City Christmas Spectacular.”

Jonathan Hadden has gone to see the annual show for years with his family. His mother was a big fan of the show and even attended until she was not well and in a wheelchair. She died in 2013.

“It’s been a part of my family’s lives for so long,” Hadden said as his daughter Jane, 4, took a picture with Levinson and Sienicki. “For [Jane] to be able to meet them is just spectacular.”

evinson and Sienicki also met with families in Parsippany and Wyckoff Tuesday. Levinson, a 5-year company member, and Sienicki, a 15-year Rockette, appeared in the three North Jersey towns as part of a partnership with Patch to promote their annual “Radio City Christmas Spectacular.”

Being North Jersey residents, Levinson is from North Caldwell and Sienicki is from Clifton, they said it was great to give back to the community..

“It’s so nice to come out and meet the fans and the young dancers,” Levinson said. “They know how hard it is being a dancer and to give something back is just great.”

The Rockettes debuted on stage at the “Radio City Christmas Spectacular” in 1933. The 80-member group’s routine is complex and the company rehearses six hours a day, six days a week. The group begins six weeks of rehearsals Friday.
