Running For A Cause
PHHS DECA hosted a fundraiser to help raise funds to the club's state charity for the year, New Eyes for the Needy.

This year, PHHS DECA held a run-a-thon with the school’s winter track team in order to raise funds for the organization, New Eyes for the Needy.
Through this fundraiser, the club hoped to raise money to make a donation in part of the DECA State Charity Event. New Eyes for the Needy is a nonprofit organization founded in 1932 to help improve the vision of the poor and donate glasses for those in need. Though it is a national organization, its headquarters are located in Short Hills, NJ, making it the perfect organization to support for NJ DECA’s state charity campaign.
Throughout the year, PHHS DECA has been hosting a series of fundraisers, from hot chocolate sales to Halloween at the Hills. This year, New Jersey DECA’s state goal is to raise and donate $25,000 to the cause. Through this business club at their school, Parsippany Hills seniors, Riya Patel and Ashley Bostek have co-chaired their chapter’s fundraising efforts. During the course of the year a variety of activities have been utilized to raise funds. Being members of winter track, it only made sense that hosting a run-a-thon would be the perfect way to get the school involved in a healthy yet fun activity and raise money for a good cause.

The business club set up the run-a-thon to occur on Friday, January 20, from 3-4 PM. Despite the rainy weather, the fundraiser proved to be a great success, raising a lot of funds for the state charity while bringing together students and encouraging them to participate in a fun, healthy activity.
