Sparta Mountain Insult to Environment & Homeland
Old Growth Trees mined without public consent Trees sold to China where did $$$$ go? Premeditated insult to science of environment/ecology.
letter addressed to Governor Murphy. NJ Your Homeland Needs you!
Murphy Please Look Into the Sparta Mountain Insult to Environment and New Jersey
Subject: Attention need be given to what Christie Did to demise NJ Highlands Water Protection & Land use Act. Sparta Mountain Deforestation is one component of this.
Please Governor your administration must start realizing that Governor Christies administration has left us many downgrades and insults in environmental polices and protections. In this case "Sparta Mountain" tree mining of old growth trees and the reasoning behind it appear to be a purpose mocking and insult of the endangered species act and the science of climate change.
Mining Old Growth Trees (healthy trees) while other tree species are suffering blights due to exotic invaders makes no sense; as Old Growth Trees especially are a front line against climate change in their resource benefit sequestering carbon from the atmosphere. Their beauty and presence in enhancing NJ's beauty is another ignored-aspect.
One reason for this uncalled for destruction is to establish habitat for grouse a hunted species, which a mocking official alleged was endangered. Several other songbird species that frequent Sparta Mountain are surely endangered by this on-going tree farming, already underway; through a non-transparent and fast tracked closed-door agreement.
One batch of old growth has already fallen, the lumber apparently sold for a mere $8,000, to China; however the question of where the $8G went is still not known. One explanation not confirmed it would be used to catch-up with the State Park Maintenance backlog; absurd! Destroy the very resources of our remaining natural wonders to pay for supposed needed repairs?
Governor Christie a Trump supporter and Climate Change denier and certainly not an ecologist set in motion this Sparta Mountain Fiasco as a premeditated injury mocking the science.
The grouse habitat is truly mocking, and especially for hunters not other outdoors enthusiasts past-times. The Delaware water Gap, a National Recreation Area, not a true national park per se, exists specially for elements of outdoor recreation like hunting and fishing, despite the fact The Tock’s Dam will never be built, and that the Federal Government has no real mandate to provide “recreation” for this or any State. In short any needs for grouse habitat and hunting already exist in this National Park and its surrounding NJ State Fish & Game lands, within its core habitat.
Sussex County itself is changing perhaps too much and is in the process of destroying its own beauty and character all for a short-term economy to nowhere. Land zoned commercial/retail is creeping right up the fringes of our States Forest; Stokes for example.
Please look into the Sparta Mountain and please counter all the negative outcomes demising environmental and land use policies and regulations/laws. Clear the system of the Christie Clogs... Man is redeemed in wood; especially old growth. NJ Love it or leave it alone...Another waterview Sparta Mountain. Parsippany residence voice your opposition...
