Town, School District to Launch Parsippany Community Television Channel
Renewal of Cablevision contract comes with new, local offering for subscribers.

As of March 1, Parsippany residents will have another option for television programming, and it will be as local as television can get.
The township of Parsippany-Troy Hills, in collaboration with the Parsippany-Troy Hills School District, announced the launch of a community television channel available to Cablevision subscribers on channel 21 beginning March 1, 2015.
Along with former municipal Business Administrator Jasmine Lim and Video on the Go Producer Jeff Coviello, Mayor James Barberio recently negotiated the renewal of the municipal franchise agreement with Cablevision, and in doing so, made the company aware of the township’s right to have its own municipal channel.

Upon signing the agreement, new channel hardware and broadcasting equipment came at no cost to the residents; the items and services were provided by Cablevision.
“I have seen what other towns have in their own channels and I always believed the residents of Parsippany deserved their own channel,” Barberio said in a statement. “The need for information dissemination has increased within the town. The channel will be a place where residents go for information on programs or events.”

The channel will feature municipal programming and coverage of school district events, along with air time dedicated to a community bulletin board. All programming will be scheduled through the office of Video on the Go.
