Parsippany's Summer Concert Kickoff Postponed: See Details

Poor air quality due to Canadian forest fires has prompted the town to move the concert.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Parsippany's Summer Concert Kickoff has been postponed due to the poor air quality.

The Philadelphia Funk Authority was originally supposed to take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, with festivities kicking off at Veterans Memorial Park by 6 p.m.

Due to Canada's forest fire smoke filling the East Coast, heavily in New Jersey specifically, organizers have decided to postpone the event.

The NJ Department of Environmental Protection says the Garden State's air quality index for Thursday is 200, earning a "code red" or unhealthy score.

The smoke is expected to linger into Friday, which is predicted to have an air quality index of 120.
