WEATHER ALERT: New Jersey Deep Freeze Plagued By Transit Delays, Sub-Zero Wind Chills
NJ Transit cross-honors tickets as much of N.J. remains under hazardous weather outlook; wind chills to remain below 0 through Thursday.
The new year is starting off with a bang – and hopefully that’s not the sound of a pipe bursting.
New Jersey is under a deep freeze as the week shivers to an end, with wind chills hitting negative teen temperatures overnight Wednesday into Thursday.
New Jersey Transit has announced 30-minute delays due to wire problems, and will have system-wide cross-honoring with tickets because of the extreme weather conditions.

Delays were reported on the Garden State Parkway south of Woodbridge, and extending all the way down to Galloway Township. Two-and-and-a-half mile delays were reported at the George Washington Bridge as many avoiding the mass transit delays.
The National Weather Service has counties in eastern Pennsylvania and across northern New Jersey under a hazardous weather outlook, with temperatures hovering around 7-degrees at 8 a.m. with a wind chill of -7 degrees.

Temperatures Thursday are expected to reach 20 degrees, but the wind chill will give the feeling of 4-below zero. Here is how the surface temperatures and wind chill temperatures will be throughout the day:
Snow showers are expected across the northern part of the state Friday morning with light accumulations during rush hour.
It’ll be more of the same in the coming days, with a high on Friday of 28 degrees during the day and lows in the single digits again.
A handful of schools in northern New Jersey have closed or opened on a delayed schedule because of the conditions. Those schools are:
Belvidere School District, Belvidere, 2-hour delayed start
Bergen Catholic H.S., Oradell, Closed
Franklin Township School District, Washington, 2-hour delayed start
North Warren Reg. H.S., Blairstown, 2-hour delayed start
Parsippany Christian School, Parsippany, Delayed start at 10:25 AM
Warren Hills Regional, Washington, 2-hour delayed start
