The same system caused deadly flooding, road closures, and travel disruptions across New Jersey and the broader Northeast, with officials now shifting from emergency rescues to cleanup and recovery.
   

• Passaic River Search Continues for Missing 10-Year-Old Girl After Boy's Death (ourcommunitynow.com) — Paterson residents are being urged to stay away from the Passaic River as dangerous high water continues after three children were swept in near nearby parks, killing a 10‑year‑old boy and leaving a 10‑year‑old girl missing. Paterson Police warn that swift currents and elevated water levels still pose serious risks while regional dive teams and boats continue recovery efforts and neighbors support the affected families.
   

• Colombian man gets federal prison. It's for his role in jewelry theft ring that hit CT mall (courant.com) — A man involved in a multistate jewelry theft ring has been sentenced to more than four years in federal prison, and investigators say the crew hit a jewelry business in Paterson in May 2023. The group is accused of stealing over $4.4 million in merchandise from malls and shops across several states, with none of the jewelry yet recovered.
