Channel Drive Proposal Set For Open House In Point Pleasant Beach

An open house with a presentation and time to talk with experts, and a virtual meeting, will be held for the public in Point Pleasant Beach.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — An open house and meeting on the proposals for the Channel Drive Revitalization project has been scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 8, Point Pleasant Beach officials announced.

The open house is set for 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday in the council chambers, 416 New Jersey Ave. There will be a brief presentation at 6 p.m., officials said.

In addition, there is a virtual meeting scheduled for 10 a.m. Nov. 13. Registration is required for the virtual meeting, and can be done sending an email to Alexis Williams, public outreach coordinator, at ChannelDriveRevitalization@stvinc.com or by calling 215-667-9762.

The proposal to revitalize Channel Drive aims to improve how the area looks and improve the area for pedestrians and for vehicles, according to the project website.

Widened sidewalks, curbs and ADA-compliant curb ramps, benches, decorative signs, and improved lighting and landscaping, along the five-block, two-lane road.

The project is funded by a grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation, and is expected to improve stormwater management and enhance the area, the project website says.

"The project improvements will improve the overall look and feel of Channel Drive, with a goal of attracting visitors and tenants to support the local economy and make the area a year-round destination," the website says.

The project website includes links to draft plans with images showinghow the revitalized area would look.
