POINT PLEASANT BORO – A child was sent to the hospital and a shelter-in-place was declared after a fight at a Point Pleasant Boro school, officials said.
Superintendent Vincent Smith said Memorial Middle School was not locked down, and the shelter-in-place lasted for about 5 to 15 minutes.
The child was treated after he was injured and transported to the hospital, he said.

A shelter-in-place means students stay in a safe location indoors and remain there until they are given an “all clear” or told to evacuate.
Smith said the school wanted to make sure that emergency personnel were able to deal with the situation without interference.
