NJ Weather: 60-MPH Winds Expected, Power Outages Possible

A high-wind warning has been issued throughout New Jersey, with 60-mph gusts expected on Sunday and Monday. Power outages are possible across the state.
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued the warning, which will be in effect from 4 p.m. on Sunday until 6 p.m. on Monday.
A surge of winds may result in 45 to 55 mph gusts, according to the National Weather Service. Winds overnight will generally gust 35 to 45 mph.

Starting Monday morning, strong winds gusting 55 to 60 mph will affect the area.
Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected.

The ground is quite saturated, and additional rainfall will add to this, according to the NWS. It will not take much wind to result in downed trees and power lines.
Here is the forecast:
- Sunday afternoon: A chance of rain before 2pm, then a slight chance of showers after 2pm. Patchy fog before 1pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 51. Southwest wind 6 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
- Sunday night: A slight chance of showers before 8pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 30. Breezy, with a west wind 18 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 41 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
- Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 41. Windy, with a west wind 23 to 28 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph.
- Monday night: Clear, with a low around 22. West wind 10 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph.
