Nor'easter Warnings Issued In Point Pleasant Beach

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — Point Pleasant Beach officials are urging residents to take precautions ahead of a nor'easter expected to impact New Jersey into the weekend.

Borough officials put out an alert Thursday evening about the potential impacts of the storm, which is expected to bring winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph, along with coastal flooding.

There could be power outages, the alert said.

"Residents should secure outdoor items, prepare for possible power outages, and use caution when traveling," the alert said. "Never drive around barricades or enter flooded or closed roadways."

Residents in areas of the borough that flood during storms can park their vehicles at the Point Pleasant Beach train station parking lot, the alert said.

The storm's effects will be complicated by the full moon, which is expected to increase high tides.

The rare September nor’easter and the full moon will collide shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday with the elevated gravitational tides merging with the storm surge, bringing dangerous flood risk to the Garden State, the National Weather Service said.
