Construction has begun on a seawall that will be erected along Jenkinson's beach in Point Pleasant Beach, officials told Patch.
Point Pleasant Beach Mayor Stephen Reid said construction can be seen from the Trenton Avenue area of the boardwalk. "It looks good," he said.
The sea wall is the resolution of a lawsuit between Jenkinson's and the borough, state Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, according to News12.

Reid has called the reached agreement a "big step forward" in getting much-needed replenishment along a main section of the beach.
Jenkinson's had been fighting with the state Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers against any kind of barrier. But Point Pleasant Beach officials said the beach's owners eventually relented.

"I think it's a suitable design and I think it's best once again for Point Pleasant Beach," Reid told The Asbury Park Press. "That's an agreement between them (Jenkinson's and the DEP), but we are very happy with the way that came together."
