Instead, the Jersey Shore, Central Jersey and parts of South Jersey should brace themselves for snow this week while the rest of the state will be spared.

Expect a troublesome commute on Wednesday when about an inch of snow is expected to fall in Monmouth, Ocean, Atlantic, Cape May, Middlesex and eastern Burlington, Mercer, Gloucester, Camden, Salem and Gloucester counties.

The snow is expected to fall during the mid-afternoon hours, so that ride home on the Garden State Parkway – and even the New Jersey Turnpike – could be slippery.

Forecasters, meanwhile, are keeping an eye on a system that is expected to mostly stay to the south of New Jersey, but could impact the state if it shifts to the north.

Some snow is predicted for the Atlantic City area during the Saturday-Monday time-frame, according to the National Weather Service. But much of the storm is expected to hit the southeastern states.

  • Tueaday afternoon: Mostly sunny, with a high near 43. Northwest wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
  • Tuesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 25. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph.
  • Wednesday: A chance of rain and snow showers between 1pm and 4pm, then a chance of snow showers after 4pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 39. Northeast wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Wednesday night: A slight chance of snow showers before 1am. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 25. Northwest wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
  • Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 41. West wind 8 to 14 mph.
