Stay Out Of Ocean Unless Lifeguards Are Present, NJ Authorities Plead
Point Pleasant Beach police shared a message from the Coast Guard, urging people to heed red flags and safety warnings.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — Please stay out of the water unless lifeguards are present. That's the plea from first responders up and down the Jersey Shore after a man died Friday rescuing his daughter from a rip current.
Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet/Shark River shared a statement Friday pleading with people to stay out of the water where no guards are present following the second death at the Jersey Shore this season, and Point Pleasant Beach police shared that message on the department's Facebook page:
"We are asking that the public please refrain from entering the water when the shore lifeguards are not on duty. Though no formal warning has been issued, there are strong rip currents along the shore today and they will likely remain throughout the weekend tidal shifts," the Coast Guard statement read.
