107 Arrested in Mercer County During Child Support Crackdown

The three-day sweep ran from July 21-23.

Mercer County led all counties with 107 arrests during a three-day child support sweep, Sheriff Jack Kemler said.

The sweep ran from July 21-23 and included detectives and uniformed Sheriff Officer’s, in addition to members of the Mercer County Probation Division, Trenton Police, NJ State Police, and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.

The sweep targeted 113 men and six women who had evaded all efforts to pay their court-ordered obligations of child support.

“Parents have a responsibility to support their children. If they do not, enforcement actions become necessary,” Kemler said. “Many of those caught in the sweep are chronic violators.”

The statewide sweep included all 21 counties in the state, and net a total of 1,106 arrests.
