2 Mercer County Men Charged In Gunpoint Robbery Of Home Depot

The Ewing men stole power tools at gunpoint from the Home Depot on Route 130, Hamilton Township.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Two Mercer County residents were charged in connection to the armed robbery of a Home Depot in Hamilton township, authorities said.

Around 4:45 p.m. on Monday, two men entered the Home Depot off Route 130 in Hamilton, took several power tools, and tried to leave, police said.

While trying to flee, one of the men assaulted an employee while the other brandished a handgun and point it towards several employees, police said. They drove off with the stolen items in a 2017 Subaru Cross Trek, authorities said.

Det. Nicholas Schulte of the Hamilton Police Department reviewed video surveillance footage and two suspected were identified — Hysson Amaru Hones, 18, and Danjulo O. Scott, 22, both residents of Ewing, police said.

On Thursday, Hamilton Police along with the New Jersey State Police Crime Suppression Central Unit took both men into custody after a brief foot chase in the 200 block of Greeland Avenue in Ewing authorities said, adding that a handgun was recovered at the scene.

Jones and Scott have been charged with first-degree robbery, aggravated assault, weapons offenses, and receiving stolen property. They are currently being held at the Mercer County Jail pending a court hearing.
