2 Mercer Men Charged In Connection With Catalytic Converter Theft

Eighteen catalytic converters were stolen from a local business in Ewing. Two Mercer county men were arrested and charged.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Two Mercer County men were arrested and charged in connection with the theft of 18 catalytic converters from a local business, Ewing Police said Thursday.

Anthony Riggins, 49, of Trenton and Eugene Riggins, 50, of Ewing were charged with multiple counts of receiving stolen property and possession of burglar's tools. Riggins was also charged with credit card theft and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

Ewing Police began investigating the theft of 18 catalytic converters from a business on Fourth Street on On June 18. During the investigation, police were able to obtain video evidence leading them to identify a vehicle suspected to be used in the theft, police said.

On Thursday morning, officers located the vehicle being operated in the area of Olden Avenue and Parkside Avenue. A traffic stop was conducted where several catalytic converters were found inside the vehicle, police said.

Authorities also found tools including a Sawzall, Sawzall blades, and a car jack.
