3-Year-Old, 2 Adults Injured In Head-On Crash In Mercer County: Police

The 3-year-old who was restrained by a forward-facing car seat suffered restraint burns and was unable to move her right arm, police said.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — A three-year-old girl and two adults were injured after a Ford Econoline van crashed head-on with a Toyota Prius in West Windsor on Friday evening, police said.

The girl and both adults were taken to area hospitals for treatment, authorities said.

At 6:12 on Friday evening, police were dispatched to Clarksville Road and Blue Jay Way on the report of a crash. The Ford was traveling south on Clarksville Road in the area of Blue Jay Way near Princeton Terrace, when it crossed the centerline, entered the northbound lane and crashed head-on with the Toyota traveling north, police said.

The driver of the Toyota, a 40-year-old West Windsor resident, complained of pain to her right arm and to her entire left side. In the passenger side rear seat was the 3-year-old girl who was restrained by a forward-facing car seat, police said. The child suffered restraint burns to her left collar bone and was unable to move her right arm. The woman and child were taken to Capital Health Fuld in Trenton for treatment.

The driver of the Ford, a 35-year-old West Windsor resident reported minor pains and was taken to the hospital, police said. The driver failed to control his vehicle in traffic and turned into the oncoming lanes to possibly avoid rear-ending traffic in front of him, police said.

Clarksville Road was closed between Quakerbridge Road and Meadow Road for approximately 2.5 hours Friday.
