PRINCETON, NJ — Six ducklings were some lucky ducks as they were rescued from a storm drain in Princeton on Thursday afternoon.

Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad was called out at around 11:15 a.m. to the Nassau Presbyterian Church to help Princeton Animal Control Officer Jim Ferry and Peggy Brookes from the Fire Safety Office.

All six ducklings were trapped in a 12-foot deep storm drain off Nassau Street, PFARS Chief Frank Setnicky said.

Ferry went down into the storm drain and passed each duckling up to the PFARS members as he was able to get them, Setnicky said.

Setnicky said they could hear the ducklings' mother but couldn't see her. She was later found 50 feet up in a tree nearby.

The mother duck was spooked with so many people around so the PFARS left in order for Ferry to reunite the ducklings with her, Setnicky said.
