MERCER COUNTY, NJ — A 9-year-old girl was shot and killed on Friday evening in Trenton, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said.

Around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 25, Trenton patrol units responded to Kingsbury Square for a Shot Spotter activation and the report of fights breaking out among a large group of people.

When officers arrived, they found a large crowd outside in a low-rise courtyard and a 9-year-old girl suffering a gunshot wound, Onofri said. She was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, then to Robert Wood Johnson New Brunswick Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly before midnight, Onofri said.
