Address Road Flooding, Pedestrian & Bicycle Committee Tells Princeton
In a letter, the Pedestrian & Bicycle Advisory Committee said the flooding problem on Linden Lane can impact pedestrian safety.
PRINCETON, NJ – The township’s Pedestrian & Bicycle Advisory Committee has asked the Council to address the “serious flooding problems” on Linden Lane during rainfall.
In a letter addressed to Council, the PBAC said the flooding problem, between Franklin Avenue and Geo Avenue, can impact pedestrian safety, especially when the intersection floods or freezes.
Linden Lane does not have a curb, so water is not able to be channeled correctly, the PBAC said. It tends to pool up on the sides of the roads which can cause heaving with the freeze-thaw cycle.

The PBAC said that water pools at the intersection "possibly due to grading issues.”
“Please prioritize addressing these flooding issues because this stretch of lindin and especially the intersection of Franklin Avenue receive lots of foot traffic due to their proximity to Princeton High School and Princeton Middle School,” the PBAC said.

Franklin Avenue and Linden Lane are bike boulevards that are heavily used by students, traveling to and from schools.
After reading the letter aloud, Mayor Mike Freda said he would ask the engineering department to look into the matter.
Councilman David Cohen said residents of the neighborhood have been advocating with different groups asking for help in the matter. He thanked the PBAC for raising this concern with Council.
“I think engineering is aware of it and have the expertise on how to fix it,” Cohen said.
