Ambulance Goes Off Road On Rt 1 Mercer Co., Crashes Into Poles
The accident took place near Carnegie Center. 2 hospital employees were inside the ambulance and they sustained minor injuries, police said.
MERCER COUNTY, NJ — An ambulance went off the road near Carnegie Center on Route 1 and hit poles and road signs early on Friday morning, West Windsor police said. No patient was inside the ambulance at the time of the crash.
On Friday, at 1:38 a.m., the West Windsor Police Department received a report of a crash involving an ambulance on Route 1 North in the area of Carnegie Center, approaching Alexander Road.
According to the investigation, an ambulance from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick went off the road and struck two road signs and two utility poles.

The ambulance was occupied by two employees and there was no patient onboard, police said.
The two employees sustained minor injuries. The ambulance was not responding to an emergency at the time of the crash.

Due to the crash, the shoulder and right lane of Route 1 North were closed and is expected to re-open at 11 p.m. on Friday.
