Bicycle Theft, Robbery: Princeton Police Blotter

A man approached a mail carrier on his route and demanded he turn over the keys to the USPS vehicle, cell phone and mailbag, police said

PRINCETON, NJ – The Princeton Police blotter released on Dec. 5 contained the following reports:

On Nov. 28, at 11:16 a.m., police received a report that a man was trying to leave a store on Nassau Street without paying. The man, a 76-year-old Trenton resident was taken into custody after he was found by patrol on Alexander Street, police said. The man also had two outstanding warrants out of Princeton Municipal Court totaling $2500. He was processed, charged and taken to the Mercer County Correctional Facility.

On Nov. 29, at 2:33 p.m., police conducted a motor stop on South Harrison Street for driving a motor vehicle with an expired registration. The driver, a 33-year-old Franklin Park resident was arrested for having two outstanding warrants totaling $1500, police said. She was processed and turned over to the South Brunswick Police Department.

On Dec. 1 at 7:55 p.m., a resident reported to police that her bicycle was stolen. The woman had left her bicycle locked to a bicycle rack in the vestibule of her building on Brickhouse Road, police said. The bike was stolen sometime between Nov. 22 and Dec. 1. The Detective Bureau is investigating.

On Dec. 2 at 1:18 p.m., A man described as African American, wearing all black, with a black hooded sweatshirt with red lettering on the front, approached a mail carrier on his route and demanded that the victim turn over the keys to the USPS vehicle, his cell phone and mailbag. The suspect then fled on foot and entered a silver sedan which was driven by another person, police said. The vehicle was last seen traveling east on Spruce Street. The investigation was turned over to the United States Postal Investigation Service.
