Boston-Based Non-Profit Offers Help With Princeton's Valley Road School

The Sustainable Energy Funding Program is offering to help finance the reconstruction of the former school.

A Boston-based nonprofit financing organization is offering a solution to the financial conundrum involving the Valley Road School, nj.com reports.

The Sustainable Energy Funding Program has contacted The Valley Road School-Adaptive Reuse Committee and the Valley Road Community Center Inc. in an effort to help save the aging building, according to the report.

The groups are hoping to save the historic part of the former Witherspoon Street School, but neither Princeton Council nor the Princeton Board of Education have been able to provide assistance.

The school district owns the property, and admits the building has been in poor condition for at least 30 years.

The group rehabilitates public buildings in instances where rehabilitation costs more than $2.5 million, according to the report.

The local groups have already begun discussions with the Sustainable Energy Funding Program, and Princeton School Board President Tim Quinn has also been contacted, although he will seek approval from the full board before entering into discussions, according to the report.
