Checks Stolen From Mailbox, Aggravated Assault: Princeton PD Blotter

Two residents reported checks being stolen from a USPS mailbox. A woman suffered monetary loss of $3,152.

PRINCETON NJ — On Sept. 14, a Princeton resident reported that she placed a $3,152 check in the USPS mailbox located at the intersection of Witherspoon Street and Spring Street, made payable to her landlord. The check was stolen, forged and cashed under a different payee's name, causing the woman monetary loss, police said. The Detective Bureau is investigating.

Another resident told police on Sept. 19, that 10 checks were stolen from the USPS mailbox at the corner of Witherspoon Street and Spring Street on Sept. 6.

On Sept. 20, a Cleveland Lane resident reported that two men tried to break into their home. A vehicle was parked in the driveway during the time, police said. The men then fled the area in a blue BMW which was later reported stolen out of Monroe Township. The Detective Bureau is investigating.

On Sept. 25 at 10:05 p.m., a man reported that he was approached by another man and punched in the face “for no reason” in Witherspoon Street. The male then struck him in the face with his bicycle and fled the area, police said. The Detective Bureau is investigating.
