Cherry Valley Road Bridge Re-Opens Ahead Of Schedule
The brand new bridge that goes over a branch of Bedens Brook in Princeton and Montgomery Township reopened to drivers on Thursday afternoon.

PRINCETON, NJ — The bi-county bridge carrying Cherry Valley Road over a Branch of Bedens Brook at the Princeton-Montgomery border reopened to drivers Thursday afternoon on budget and ahead of schedule, Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes said.
This is the second county bridge project in less than a month to open ahead of the planned completion date, Hughes noted.
The full replacement of the bridge was announced in August and construction began on Oct. 22, 2018 with a 90-day completion date, according to the Mercer County Department of Transportation and Infrastructure.

The original bridge went over a branch of Bedens Brook in Princeton and Montgomery Township and consisted of a single span, reinforced concrete slab on concrete/masonry abutments.
The structure was considered structurally deficient and was replaced with a prefabricated, three-sided concrete culvert supported on spread footings.

The new bridge supports a 46-foot-wide cartway and a 5-foot-wide sidewalk along the north side. The cross section at the bridge consists of two 12-foot travel lanes, one 12-foot and one 5-foot shoulder, and four-rail bridge railings.
The project cost a total of $550,274.
