Cherry Valley Road Closes Monday For Construction
Cherry Valley Road from Cherry Hill Road (southern leg) to Birchwood Drive will be closed to through traffic 24 hours, 7 days a week.

PRINCETON, NJ — The first phase of the Cherry Valley Road construction project begins Monday.
Cherry Valley Road from Cherry Hill Road (southern leg) to Birchwood Drive will be closed to through traffic 24 hours per day, seven days a week.

Detours will change in accordance with project phasing.

Commuters and truck traffic passing through Princeton should stay on Rt. 206 or County Rt. 518.
For crosstown Princeton / Hopewell / Pennington traffic travelling the southwest area of Princeton, use The Great Rd. or Carter Rd. Crosstown trucks must use Carter Rd. (Local deliveries exempted)

For crosstown Princeton / Montgomery / Skillman traffic travelling the northeast area of Princeton, passenger cars should use The Great Rd., County Rt. 518, St. Rt. 206 and Cherry Hill Rd. Trucks must remain on St. Rt. 206 and County Rt. 518.
Traffic will likely be heavy so plan accordingly. Drivers are asked to be patient while this area of Cherry Valley Road is widened to safely accommodate the vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians who rely on it every day.
The project
The joint project between Princeton and Montgomery Township is set to improve Cherry Valley Road from 300 feet west of Cherry Hill Road to the Mercer County Bridge at “Jefferson’s Curve” (west of George Drive).
The following improvements will be constructed:
- A 34-foot wide roadway to accommodate on-road bike lanes
- Belgian block curbing
- A storm sewer drainage system including inlets and piping
- A 6-foot wide paved sidewalk on the southern side of the roadway, connecting to the existing walkway to the east
- Tree planting in Princeton open space to mitigate for tree removals along the roadway. This work will be completed under the Cherry Run Riparian Zone Mitigation Tree Planting project by The Dawson Corporation.
