Crime Down In Princeton Through First 6 Months Of 2017

Through the first six months of the year, there were 250 arrests, compared to 570 through the first six months of 2016.

PRINCETON, NJ — The number of arrests through the first six months of 2017 were down compared to the same period in 2016 in Princeton, according to the June crime report posted on the Princeton Police Department’s website. Crime was down each individual month, with the exception of April.

Through the first six months of the year, there were 250 arrests, compared to 570 through the first six months of 2016. There were no homicides, rapes or robberies reported through the end of June. There were 86 incidents of larceny, 19 burglaries, 18 assaults and three incidents of arson in Princeton through the first six months.

In total, there were 20,201 calls for service, about half of the 40,814 calls through the first half of last year.
Police made 863 traffic stops in June. Nearly 60 percent of those stops involved white residents, and nearly 16 percent involved African Americans. Over 63 percent of traffic stops involved males.
