Discover the ancient ritual of the Chinese Tea
Ceremony at the Peony Pavilion, 15 Farber Road, Princeton, New Jersey, Wednesday, May 21, 12-2 p.m. $18 all inclusive per person. The tea, small plate
networking luncheon will kickoff the Peony Club, the first of a series of
educational demonstrations and discussions with topics of culture, music,
cuisine, health, beauty and fashion to be held at Peony Pavilion. The tea

Joanne Zhou, an international cultural consultant, will be the hostess
conducting the ceremony.
The ceremony will be
demonstrated by Joanne Zhou, a Princeton resident and international cultural consultant. Zhou is an expert trainer and
consultant for cross-cultural communication. She is a Chinese American who grew
up in China and resided in Europe and the United States. Zhou has provided
consulting and training services in the areas of communication, living and
working across cultures for many prestigious companies and organizations
including the US Olympic Committee, Microsoft, British Foreign Services and
Lloyds of London.

“It’s the perfect stage for cultural events such as art, music, cuisine and informative events about having a holistic, healthy lifestyle,” explained Lisa Shao, owner Peony Pavilion. Shao, who grew up in the Szechuan Province of China and moved to the United States 17 years ago to pursue a career as an IT project manager and now restaurateur, is also a dancer and has performed most recently at McCarter Theater in a Chinese New Year celebration.

Shao said when she was creating the concept for Peony Pavilion, which is named after a popular 16th century Chinese opera, she knew cultural events would be a part of her business practices. “We have so many talented professionals from all parts of the world in Princeton. It just makes sense to share our cultures with each other.”
