Employee Accused Of Stealing $20K From Princeton Business: Police

Jose Candelas, 34, is accused of stealing $20,160 in cash from Moneybag Multiservices.

PRINCETON, NJ — A Somerset man has been charged with stealing more than $20,000 from a local business that he was supposed to wire to Guatemala, according to Princeton police.

Jose Candelas, 34, is accused of stealing $20,160 in cash from Moneybag Multiservices on Witherspoon Street, police said. Candelas is an employee of the business. After an investigation, Candelas was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where he was processed, issued a complaint summons with a pending court date and released.

The incident was reported as part of the Princeton Police Department’s weekly report posted on the town’s website. All incidents are merely accusations, and those accused are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. Other reported incidents are as follows:

Thomas Wescott, 23, of West Deptford, and Lynell Collins, 39, of Mullica Hill, were found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop on Hutchison Drive for overweight vehicle on July 31. They were taken to police headquarters, where they were processed, issued several summonses with a pending court date and released.

Richard Henries, 20, of Trenton, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana under 50 grams after an occupied car was seen in Hilltop Park after dark on July 31. He was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where he was processed, issued several complaint summonses with a pending court date.

Hector Munoz, 48, of Princeton, was known to have an active warrant out of Princeton for $275 with no 10 percent bail when police saw him walking north on Palmer Square East at about 11:16 a.m. on Monday, July 30. Once police confirmed the warrant was still active, Munoz was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where he was processed, issued a new court date and released on his own recognizance.
