Fire Causes Princeton Condos To Be Evacuated

PRINCETON, NJ — Residents in a condominium complex were evacuated after a fire broke out on top of a unit on Willow Street on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Around 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 2 fire and police officials arrived at the condominium on Willow Street to find smoke rising from the roof, Princeton Police said.

The fire had started on the roof starting from an HVAC unit, Princeton Fire Marshall Joe Novak said.

The home and all other units in the complex were evacuated while Princeton Fire Department put out the fire. The fire was contained to the immediate area near the HVAC unit, Novak said.

The fire was found not to be suspicious, police said.

Residents were able to return to their units after the fire was put out, except for the unit right below the HVAC unit, Novak said.

Princeton First Aid Squad were also on scene. One firefighter was treated for a minor injury and was released.
