Football Home Opener Part of Princeton University's Faculty and Staff Day Saturday

The Tigers host Davidson College in their home opener, 6 p.m.

The Princeton University football team seeks its first win of the season in its first home game this weekend.

The Tigers play their first at Powers Field Saturday night, 6 p.m., when they host Davidson College.

The game will be part of Princeton’s annual Community and Staff Day, beginning at 4:30 p.m. The event includes children’s activities, music, food and a sports clinic for youth, ages 5-13. A fireworks show follows the game.

Princeton is coming off a 39-29 loss at the University of San Diego last weekend in their season opener.

Senior quarterback Quinn Epperly had 237 yards and two touchdowns, but also threw a pair of interceptions in that game.

Senior wide receiver Seth DeValve had nine catches for 123 yards.

Junior running back DiAndre Atwater led the Tigers rushing attack with 10 carries for 80 yards.

Senior linebacker Mike Zeuli had nine tackles and two sacks.

Davidson has a win this season, but it’s still looking for positives in a season in which it has started 1-3. Quarterback J.P, Douglas ranks 23rd nationaly with 844 yards passing, according to davidsonwildcats.com. He has five touchdowns through four games.

Running back David Rogers is averaging seven yards per carry, the 18th best in the nation so fart his season. He has seen the end zone four times this year, good enough for a ranking of 23rd in the nation.

Wide receiver William Morris is averaging over 16 yards a catch and has two touchdowns this season. He ranks third in the country in total receiving yards with 453. Cam Cheuvront is averaging just over nine yards a catch and has two touchdowns through four games.
