Former aide returns as new physical therapist at Jersey Physical Therapy

Announces "New" Hire for Plainsboro Office

PLAINSBORO, NJ – The team at Jersey Physical Therapy recently welcomed a former physical therapy aide back to its staff, though this time as a doctor of physical therapy.

Lindsey Balint, PT, DPT, Cert. MDT, who worked as an aide at the Kendall Park clinic nearly a decade ago, began seeing patients in Jersey Physical Therapy’s Plainsboro and Kendall Park sites starting Tuesday, Oct. 6. According to Jersey PT co-founder Marc Rubenstein, PT, DPT, OCS, Balint will split her time between Jersey’s Plainsboro and Kendall Park clinics.

“I feel that Jersey Physical Therapy gave me a base to compare other clinics against,” Balint said. “I wanted to come back to a PT-owned practice because I think physical therapists know best how to deliver physical therapy for best patient outcomes. Jersey PT has a family atmosphere ... and many of the same people that I worked with here 9 years ago are still here.”

After obtaining experience working in athletic training, an interest in rehabilitation led Balint to physical therapy school at the joint program with the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey and Rutgers Graduate School in Camden. After earning her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree, she became certified in the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT).

Balint comes to Jersey Physical Therapy after working at an outpatient orthopedic clinic for six years, where she specialized in treating sports injuries and providing rehabilitation for patients following knee, hip and shoulder surgeries. She also worked with professional ballet dancers from the Princeton American Repertory Ballet.

“I enjoy helping people get back to the things they enjoy doing,” Balint said. “Physical therapy is not just about relieving pain, it’s about getting patients back to their lives and back to achieving their goals. It doesn’t matter how old you are or if you have an injury, you have to keep moving forward and keep trying to improve so you can continue to do what makes life worth living.”

This is the type of perspective that makes Balint an ideal addition to the Jersey Physical Therapy team, Rubenstein said – a team currently promoting a year-long campaign called “Play for Life.” The campaign is geared toward encouraging people of all ages and physical limitations to make time for play in their lives, whether that involves chasing their kids, running a 5K, taking up a new hobby, or even furthering their education.

“Lindsey first got into the health and exercise sciences because she wanted to help people achieve their fullest potential as human beings, whether that means achieving a person best as an athlete or as a volunteer in one’s community,” Rubenstein said. “This type of attitude is infectious and, combined with the level of skill she offers as a physical therapist, made us want to bring her back to help us in continually providing positive outcomes to our clients.”
