Former Princeton Dean Confirmed As Biden’s Top Economic Adviser

PRINCETON, NJ — On Tuesday, the senate voted to confirm former Princeton professor Cecilia Rouse as Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers.

Rouse, former dean of the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs, is the first Black person to serve in that role.

Biden nominated Rouse to the position in November. The Senate voted 95-4 in favor of her confirmation.

During her confirmation hearing, Rouse highlighted the economic fallout of the pandemic and said she would focus on rebuilding it and bringing jobs back.

This role will be Rouse’s third stint at the White House. She is a former member of the Obama-Biden Council of Economic Advisers and served in the Clinton White House's National Economic Council.
