Fraud, Suspicious Incident Highlight Princeton Police Report

Princeton police release their activity report.

PRINCETON, NJ — The following information was provided by the Princeton Police Department. Incidents are merely accusations. Those accused are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.

A walk-in victim reported an unknown caller duped him out of a total of $6,000 during two separate phone calls. They took place on two consecutive days, on Oct. 7 and Oct. 8. Each time, the caller posed as an Immigration officer claiming to require $3,000 to release an acquaintance of the victim from an immigration detention facility. The victim provided the money each time.

Princeton police responded to the area of Overbrook Drive to investigate a call of a suspicious incident. The caller told the responding officers that an unknown man had come to her home twice, on Nov. 6 and Nov. 9, and requested that she walk with him to the rear yard to discuss cutting trees along her property line. She refused the request both times, and the man walked away without incident. The caller described the man as tall, and thin, possibly Hispanic, between 35 and 45 years old. Patrols checked the area but did not find the man.

Clay Deputy, 41, of Wilmington, DE, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after he was seen smoking marijuana in a car on the 100 block of Elm Road on Nov. 8 at 12:07 p.m. He was taken to police headquarters where he was processed, issued two complaint summonses with a pending court date and released on his own recognizance.

An iPod and 10 quarters, with a total of $197.50 was stolen from an unlocked Honda CRV that was parked in the driveway of a home on Marion Road East sometime between 8 p.m. on Nov. 6 and 7 a.m. on Nov. 7.
