Princeton is trying to establish a uniform overnight parking policy for the consolidated town.

Council was split on a 3-3 vote at Monday night’s council meeting on an ordinance that would establishe an overnight parking policy for the consolidated town, Planet Princeton reports.
Mayor Liz Lempert cast the deciding vote against introducing the ordinance, pending further study, including citizen outreach, according to the report.

Former residents of Princeton Borough who don’t have driveways are permitted one overnight parking permit per car for $30 each quarter, according to the report.
Former residents of Princeton Township are permitted one free decal per year if they have a driveway, and two free decals per year if they don’t, according to the report.

On Leigh Avenue, a resident who lives on a portion of the street in the former borough pays $120 to park on the street, and a resident who lives on portion of the street in the former township can park on the street for free, according to the report.
