Here’s The Latest On Witherspoon Street Improvement Project

Utility companies will be working to replace and upgrade facilities. Here's how it will impact traffic and parking this week.

PRINCETON, NJ — Work on Witherspoon is currently underway. Utility companies will be working to replace and upgrade their facilities between Nassau Street and Green Street over the next several weeks.

Here’s what’s upcoming and how it will impact traffic and parking this week.

Oliver Communications will be working in the Verizon manholes beginning Monday, Jan. 31, the Municipality informed. The work will be done from south of Spring Street Green Street. Verizon and its contractor, J. Fletcher Creamer, have indicated that the work will take approximately four days, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Work will be performed with traffic control maintaining at least one lane of traffic at one time. No road closures are currently planned, however, parking will be impacted.

Parking will not be allowed between Spring Street and Hulfish Street for at least one day when the contractor is working in that area. Parking will not be allowed between Hulfish Street and Paul Robeson Place/Wiggins Street for at least one day.

This will not occur on the same days. Meters will be bagged when work is being performed. In addition, one of the two bike racks on the street across from Spring Street will be removed to allow the installation of a service line to 36 Witherspoon Street.

New Jersey American Water will also be working to add or upgrade their facilities, during the third week of February at night, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Witherspoon Street will be closed to traffic at these times.
