This Is How Justice System Should Works: Watson Coleman On Trump Indictment

In a statement, the Congresswoman said people knew from the beginning that Trump lacked competence and civility to lead the nation.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Reacting to the new of Former President Donald Trump's indictment on Thursday, Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12) said “no one was above the law.”

Trump became the first ex-president in U.S. history to face criminal charges Thursday when a grand jury voted to indict him in Manhattan, the New York Times was first to report.

Later the same evening, Watson Coleman issued a statement on the political bombshell.

“This is exactly how our justice system should work. In America, no one is above the law, not even former Presidents,” Watson Coleman said.

“Over the course of his administration, the former President proved time and time again that he was unfit to serve the public in any public office or position of public trust, let alone the highest one in the country. We must not forget that his was a presidency defined by two impeachments, a disastrous response to a global pandemic, an economic collapse, and handouts to the rich at the expense of working families.”

NY District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office said they had contacted Trump’s legal team to coordinate his surrender, which is expected early next week. Specific charges against the former president still remain under seal until the arraignment. More: Trump Indicted Over Porn Star Hush Money In NYC

In her statement, Watson Coleman said that Trump lacked the competence and civility to lead the country.

“From the beginning of his 2016 campaign, millions of Americans knew that the Mr. Trump lacked the competence, civility, and character necessary to lead and represent our nation on the world stage. Should he be found guilty of the crime he allegedly committed, it will only serve as further proof that he should never again set foot in the Oval Office,” Watson Coleman said.

Trump has been accused of making hush money payments of $130,000 to adult film star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election.
