Liz Lempert Takes Oath Of Office For Second Term As Princeton Mayor

She took the oath of office on Tuesday, one day before the town's reorganization meeting, according to the Princeton Packet.

PRINCETON, NJ — Princeton Mayor Liz Lempert will have her ceremonial swearing-in and deliver her State of the Town address one day after taking the oath of office to begin her second term as mayor, the Princeton Packet reports.

On Tuesday, she listed some of her priorities for her second term as mayor, which included addressing the need to reduce emissions locally, studying the downtown parking situation and doing more to help aid local business, according to the report.

Council also expects to hear from municipal Environmental Commission chairwoman Sophie Glovier on the issue of flood mitigation during next Monday’s council meeting, according to the report.

Princeton's reorganization meeting was scheduled for Wednesday night, 5 p.m. at the Princeton Municipal Building, Witherspoon Hall, Main Meeting Room, 400 Witherspoon Street.

Lempert won re-election in November. She was elected the first mayor of the consolidated Princeton in 2012. Before that, she was the Deputy Mayor in the former Princeton Township.

She rose to prominence on the local political scene in 2008, when she volunteered for Barack Obama’s campaign and quickly rose to co-chair the 3,500-member grassroots group, Mercer for Obama.
