Man Driving Without Headlights Arrested For DWI: Princeton Police

Princeton police release their weekly activity report.

PRINCETON, NJ — A Princeton man was arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI) in Princeton last week, according to the police department. Osama K. Hassan, 22, was placed under arrest for DWI following a traffic stop for driving a car with no headlights on Bayard Lane at 4:08 a.m. on Feb. 17. He was taken to police headquarters, where he was processed, issued several motor vehicle summonses with a pending court date and released to a sober adult.

The incident was among several released as part of the Princeton Police Department’s crime log this week. All incidents are merely accusations, and those accused are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. Other incidents included:

Mark Elbaum, 51, of Hillsborough, was arrested after a random plate inquiry revealed an outstanding warrant of $249 out of Perth Amboy Municipal Court on the 700 block of Princeton-Kingston Road at 9:54 a.m. on Feb. 19. He was taken to police headquarters, where he was processed and released after his bail was posted.

A victim reported his iPhone 7 cell phone was stolen from his backpack while he was playing basketball at the YWCA on Feb. 18 between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The owner of Princeton Sunoco stated he has made numerous attempts to settle a financial matter with 45-year-old Monica Carter, of Princeton, but has had no progress. He now would like to file a theft of service complaint.

An unknown man attempted to reload his prepaid debit card using two $100 bills at the CVS on the 100 block of Nassau Street on Feb. 17. When the assistant manager went to the check the authenticity of the bills, the man left the store. The two $100 bills were determined to be counterfeit.

A victim reported that on Feb. 2 between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. while taking a step aerobics class at the YMCA, unknown actor(s) took his his IPhone 6 plus which he left near the exercise mats. When he returned to retrieve his phone, it was nowhere to be found.
