Man Threatened to Blow Up Mercer County Courthouse: Sheriff

A Mercer County man has been charged with making a false public threat after he was captured in Bucks County, PA, on Tuesday night, Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler announced.

Jermaine McCain, 36, of Trenton, was charged with making a false public alarm and placing a 911 call without actual emergency.

He allegedly threatened to detonate a bomb at the Mercer County Superior Courthouse in a 9-1-1 call placed on Thursday, Sept. 17. Authorities determined it was McCain who had placed the call after an extensive investigation. They also detemined that he was attempting to evade police.

Members of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit and the U.S. Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force captured McCain in Bucks County on Tuesday night. He is currently being held at the Bucks County Jail pending additional criminal charges by the Bensalem Police Department on $50,000 bail for his flight from justice. The matter remains under active investigation.
