Mercer County Man Charged In Girlfriend's Murder
Police found Jennifer Beer suffering from gunshot wounds in her apartment moments before she died Sunday morning, according to authorities.

A 38-year-old Hamilton Township man has been arrested and charged in connection with his live-in girlfriend’s death, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said Monday morning.
Daniel Torres Jr. is charged with murder, possession of firearms for an unlawful purpose and cruelty to an animal in the death of 31-year-old Jennifer Beer.
Police found Beer lying on the floor of her bedroom while responding to an apartment in the 800 block of South Olden Avenue just after 6 a.m. Sunday morning. Upon arrival, officers heard a gunshot come from the second floor apartment.

Officers forced their way into the apartment and immediately detained Torres. After further investigation, they found Beer in the bedroom. She had been shot several times and was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.
A dead dog was also found nearby, in the same room. Police didn’t say what had killed the dog. Torres was charged Sunday evening following an investigation by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Hamilton Police Division.

He is being held at the Mercer County Correction Center. The prosecutor’s office will be filing a motion to have him detained.
