Area veterans will gather for the county's observance on Sunday, May 28, 11 a.m. in the veteran section at Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton Township. Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes will deliver opening remarks at the observance, which has been organized by Mercer County Veteran Services.. The ceremony to salute the men and women from Mercer County who have given their lives in service to their fellow Americans will conclude with a wreath-laying, 21-gun salute, playing of taps, and benediction. Tucked under the canopy of one of Princeton’s most treasured parks, “Made in the Shade” invites children to experience the magic of trees and forest life through hands-on games, crafts, and creative play. Activities include Tree Bingo, storytime, play dough leaf prints and more.
Kids will receive a free coloring book that celebrates the diversity of trees in Marquand Park, as well as light snacks to enjoy in the shade. Whether they’re matching leaves in Bingo or listening to forest stories under the branches, children will leave with a deeper appreciation of the park’s living collection.
Come celebrate summer under the trees! This event is free and open to the public. Activities are best suited for children ages 3–10, but all are welcome.
