Murphy Vs. Ciattarelli: How Princeton Voted
In the closest gubernatorial election in decades, here's a look at how Princeton and other towns in Mercer County voted.
PRINCETON, NJ — It has been the closest gubernatorial race in decades. With the race declared for Phil Murphy over Jack Ciattarelli with 98 percent of the votes counted statewide, here's a look at how Princeton and Mercer County voted.
With 241 of 243 districts reporting, the voter turnout in Merer County was 35.64 percent, according to unofficial tallies published by the County as of 11 a.m. Friday. Of 265,901 registered voters, 94,763 ballots were cast.
In Princeton, 79.78 percent cast their votes for Murphy, with Ciattarelli receiving 19.26 percent. The official election results will be determined at the Board of Canvassers meeting on Nov. 15 and the County Clerk must certify official election results to the Secretary of State by Nov. 20.

As of 11 a.m. Friday, Murphy had a margin of 56,624 votes — 1,271,381 to 1,214,757 according to the Associated Press.

For the NJ 16 District race, an overwhelming 81.06 percent voted for Democrat Andrew Zwicker, while Republican Michael Pappas got 18.94 percent of votes.
In neighboring Lawrence Township, 67.17 percent voted for Murphy and 31.94 percent for Ciattarelli.
East Windsor has 4,486 ballots cast for Murphy and 2,410 for Ciattarelli.
Vote-by-mail ballots and provisional ballots are still being counted. All ballots postmarked before November 2, will be counted until November 8.
