PRINCETON, NJ — Princeton Planning Board will host a special meeting on Tuesday, and on the agenda is an application for 125-unit rental apartment development.

Terhune Development Urban Renewal LLC is requesting preliminary and final site plan approval for an “inclusionary” multi-family rental development on the corner of North Harrison Street and Terhune Road.

The applicant is seeking to build 125 apartments on a 5.9-acre lot bordering Princeton Shopping Center. The development will include 25 affordable units and is part of Princeton’s Fair Share Housing Plan.

The plan calls for a four-story building with 60 one-bedroom apartments, 59 two-bedroom homes and six three-bedroom apartments.

The building complex will have amenities for residents and the general public, according to a memorandum by Planning Director Michael La Place. These amenities include a playground, outdoor seating area, dog park and patios.

Parking will be provided for 163 vehicles and there will be 145 bicycle parking spaces.

"The project is a centrally located, sensibly designed and appropriately scaled development that will provide both market-rate and affordable housing units in an attractive setting," La Place wrote in his memo. "It is smart growth development, that is within walking distance and adjacent to the Princeton Shopping Center and is well served by transit and a comprehensive roadway and patch system. It also helps Princeton to meet its affordable housing obligation under the court mandates 2020 Fair Share Housing Plan."

If approved, this will be the fourth multifamily rental development in the North Harrison Street Redevelopment Area. Read More: Princeton Council Adopts Ordinance For Housing Redevelopment
