Ordinance Restricting Store Hours in Princeton Tabled

The council president was absent. Critics say the ordinance was tabled because it wouldn't pass, Planet Princeton reports.

Princeton’s governing body tabled an ordinance restricting hours for stores near residential areas because Council President Bernie Miller was absent Monday night, Planet Princeton reports.

Councilman Lance Liverman said all council members need to be present to vote on important issues, but detractors say without Miller, the ordinance favored by Mayor Liz Lempert wouldn’t pass, according to the report.

The ordinance calls for businesses in or near residential areas to be opened between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. It mainly affects a 7-11 on Nassau Street, according to the report.
