New Jersey’s Oyster Bowl will reach the $250,000 mark to benefit Susan G. Komen Central and South Jersey

Mark your calendars for New Jersey’s celebrated oyster eating contest. Oyster Bowl XV will be held at Blue Point Grill on Nassau Street in Princeton on February 2, 2014 from 11 AM-2 PM to benefit Susan G. Komen Central and South Jersey. This action packed event draws hundreds of participants and spectators who compete in 2 minute heats to determine who can consume the most oysters.

In its 15 year history the event has become a Princeton tradition before the big game featuring not only the Oyster Eating contest, but games and activities for the kids, raffles and prizes, and the only time lunch is served at Blue Point Grill. The event provides an opportunity for the community to join together to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer. Individuals and corporate teams of four slurp as many oysters as they can with the hope they can beat the record of 102 consumed in a two-minute period. This year’s special guests include former New England Patriot, Tony Logan, who is serving as Honorary Co-Chair through the support of Lonnie Allgood Dreams for Kids.

“This year we will reach $250,000 raised from this event for the fight against breast cancer,” said Jack Morrison, owner of Blue Point Grill. “The outpouring of community support and the growth of the event over 15 years is incredible.”

Participants can register for a $50 per person entry fee to compete in heats as an individual or as a team of up to four people. Prizes are awarded to individuals and teams based on the total amount of oysters consumed within a two minute period. Volunteer judges and oyster counters determine the winners.
