Parking Regulations in Princeton on the Agenda for Monday Night's Council Meeting

Council meets Monday night, 7 p.m., at the municipal complex, preceded by a special closed session.

Princeton will consider a pair of ordinances concerning parking when it meets Monday night, 7 p.m., at the municipal complex.

One ordinance is up for second reading, and will include a public hearing. This ordinance bans parking on the east side of Riverside Drive West, from the northerly curb line of Prospect Avenue to the Riverside Elementary School driveway. It essentially eliminates three parking spaces north of Prospect Avenue.

The stated purpose is to increase intersection sight distance in accordance with endorsements from Riverside Elementary School, the Princeton Police Department and the Traffic Safety Committee.

The other ordinance, to be introduced for the first time Monday night, bans parking on the south side of Valley Road from the east curb line of Witherspoon Street and stretching 90 degrees east.

It essentially eliminates two parking spaces.

The stated purpose is to amend the no parking zones for Valley Road in the vicinity of the Valley Road School building, in order to facilitate safe turning movements from Witherspoon Street in accordance with endorsements from the Princeton Police Department and the Traffic Safety Committee.

There will be a public hearing and second reading on an ordinance concerning salaries and wages for certain non-contract municipal employees, effective Jan. 1, 2015. For a list of those impacted, check the agenda packet.

The final ordinance to be heard on second reading designates a bus stop on the east side of Witherspoon Street, 85 feet south of Franklin Avenue to 168 feet south of Franklin Avenue, and east from the southerly curb line of Henry Avenue, 105 feet south.

Council will also consider acceptance of a donation of land next to Mary Moss Park, which would help in an improvement project at the park.

Prior to the start of the regular meeting, council will hold a special closed session at 6:30 p.m. Discussion topics will include negotiations and open space acquisition.
